4H, Youth, and Family Development

Out-of-school informal learning activities can improve the overall well-being and long-term success of youth. These opportunities are especially important for children living in low-income families, where they encounter more obstacles to academic achievement and social and emotional development, and sometimes have fewer occasions for positive social interaction with their peers.

National 4H Organization

Through life-changing 4‑H programs, nearly 6,000,000 young people take on critical issues such as addressing community health inequities, engaging in civil discourse and advocating for equity and inclusion for all. We believe in young people and their strengths and influence to improve the world around us.

North Carolina 4H

Healthcare.gov

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, referred to as the Affordable Care Act or “ACA” for short, is the comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010. The law has three primary goals: 1.) Make affordable health insurance available to more people. The law provides consumers with subsidies (“premium tax credits”) that lower costs for households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL). 2.) Expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138% of the FPL. Not all states have expanded their Medicaid programs. 3.) Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower health care costs generally.
